Birdville ISD
The Birdville ISD vision of “Learning for all, Whatever it takes!” is the foundation for continued student and staff excellence in its 21 elementary schools, seven middle schools, three comprehensive high schools, one career and technical high school, and one alternative campus.
Birdville ISD is the fourth-largest school district in Northeast Tarrant County, with more than 24,100 students. The district’s 33 campuses serve the community of Richland Hills and portions of Colleyville, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Hurst, North Richland Hills, and Watauga.
Curriculum and Instruction
A strong foundation of language arts, math, science, and social studies forms the core curriculum in all grade levels. In addition, students are enrolled in a wide variety of electives and extra-curricular opportunities, such as foreign language, fine arts, physical education, athletics and career and technology education. Instructional technology is embedded into all curriculum so that students are prepared for college and/or career opportunities upon graduation. The district also offers an advanced academic program K-12 which includes an elementary pull-out gifted and talented program, pre-AP courses for middle school students, and advanced placement/dual-credit courses for high school students.
Career and Technology Education
BISD’s career and technology education is recognized both statewide and nationally for its exemplary programs in partnership with business and industry in the BISD community. Innovative courses are offered in five career pathways including Arts and Communications; Business and Marketing; Health and Medicine; Science, Engineering and Technology; and Social, Personal and Public Services.
Athletics
The athletic program offers a full range of sport activities. The district competes in 13 sports teams in the University Interscholastic League, Class 4A and 5A, in Texas.
Fine Arts
The program includes an elementary music program, band, choir, art, theatre arts, dance, and music theory for secondary students. BISD Fine Arts programs have been recognized at the state and national level for excellence.
